Change the Way You Get to Work and Win
Commuter Challenge June 3 to 9, 2012
This National Environment Week, sign up for the Commuter Challenge and win. Get your co-workers or your community together and register to win prizes from local businesses.
You might even win the prestigious Commuter Cup.
The Commuter Challenge is a national event, held during Canadian Environment Week that uses friendly competition between cities and workplaces to encourage Canadians to leave their cars at home. It celebrates active and sustainable transportation and rewards walking, cycling, carpooling/ride-sharing, taking transit and telecommuting.
These alternative ways of commuting reduce green house gases and reduce the wear and tear on infrastructure in our region. Rather than vehicles with a single-occupant traveling the streets, people are traveling in mass transit or under their own power. Even carpooling makes a difference.
Sign up and you may win prizes from:
- The Yoga Haus (two memberships)
- Happinez (two $25 gift certificates)
- Cross Fit (two memberships)
- Bell Aliant (bike)
- Saint John Transit (two monthly passes)
- Lemongrass/ Peppers Pub (“Spice up your step” $75 gift certificate for those who register to walk)
- The Feel Good Store (“It feels good to take the bus” gift basket for those who register for transit)
In 2011 over 245 people from 29 organizations signed up for the Commuter Challenge in Saint John, the largest number of participants in New Brunswick.
