Saint John is served by the Province of New Brunswick’s Horizon Health Network.
The Saint John Regional Hospital, located in Millidgeville, 10 minutes from the City's Uptown, is the region's primary centre for acute care,and is one of only
two accredited tertiary trauma centres in Atlantic Canada. It also
serves as New Brunswick’s heart centre.
St. Joseph’s Hospital provides residents with medical/surgical hospital services, a community health centre, a women's health centre and a health and aging program.

The Province of New Brunswick has also invested in a number of wellness centres throughout the city.
Saint John is now home to Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswicka new medical school and a joint project between Dalhousie University, UNB Saint John, and the
Saint John Regional Hospital.
