As part of the recommendation to Council, a development review of this municipal property has been undertaken to align with the City’s Roadmap for Smart Growth, Action #30 under tax-base growth.

Public Notice is hereby given that the Common Council of The City of Saint John intends to consider an amendment to the Municipal Development Plan which would:
1. Redesignate, on Schedule A – City Structure, of the Plan, a parcel of land with an area of approximately 5.18 hectares, located at 1671 Sandy Point
Road, also identified as being PID No. 00418129, as illustrated below, from Park and Natural Area to Stable Area; and
2. Redesignate on Schedule B – Future Land Use, of the Plan, the same parcel of land from Park and Natural Area to Stable Residential;
A public presentation of the proposed amendment will take place at a regular meeting of Common Council on Monday, October 2, 2017 in the Council Chamber, Lobby Level, City Hall.

REASON FOR CHANGE: To permit future development.

Above and beyond Council’s six critical decision points (see page 25) related to the property, community members have three periods during which they could offer feedback to the proposed amendment:

October 2 – November 1, 2017 – public submission period

If Council votes to proceed with the Plan amendment/rezoning process, there will be two more opportunities for the public to offer their thoughts and opinions:

December 12, 2017 – Planning Advisory Council (PAC) opportunity for public comment and written submissions.

January 8, 2018 – Council public hearing and opportunity for written submissions.
