Police Chief for a Day

Wed April 17, 2019
The Saint John Police Force is looking for a new Chief to take over policing duties in Saint John for one (1) day. However, only those who attend school in Saint John in grades 5, 6 or 7 will be considered for the role.

The ‘Chief for a Day’ contest is being held as part of Police Week which runs from May 12 - 18, 2019. Students are asked to write an essay describing why they believe policing is important in our community.

This event is another opportunity for the Saint John Police Force and our youth to connect, and for the Force to understand youth views on policing. The future of our community is with our youth and acknowledging the views of all our citizens (young and old) is important to us.

The new Chief will have the opportunity to spend the day at Saint John Police Force Headquarters on Tuesday, May 14 and check out some really cool things. A great day has been planned for our new Chief.

If you are interested, please send along your essay to with a subject line: Chief for a Day, or it can be dropped off at Force Headquarters, 1 Peel Plaza from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, May 3, 2019.
