The Saint John Police Force received a 911 call to a Pine Avenue residence, located off of the Belmont Road in west Saint John at approximately 721pm July 5, 2016 in relation to a stabbing.
Police learned that a 21yr old female had been stabbed several times and a 23yr old male had been struck in the head/upper body with a blunt object.
The accused, a 22yr old female fled the scene in a vehicle heading in the direction of Fredericton NB.
The RCMP, who had been notified, located and stopped the suspect vehicle in the Welsford area, where they took the accused into custody. She was transported back to Saint John jurisdiction and is presently in custody awaiting an afternoon court appearance.
The accused is expected to be facing charges of attempted murder and assault with a weapon. All three individuals are known to one another.
The female victim remains in hospital in stable condition with serious but non- life threatening injuries. The male victim suffered minor injuries that did not require follow up treatment.
The weapon was later recovered by police with the assistance of a canine utilized from the Fredericton Police Force. Members of the Saint John Police Force Major Crime Unit and Forensic Unit, who were both called to the scene to assist, continue to investigate the incident.
