The Saint John Police Force received a call on April 20th, 2012 where bones had been discovered near Spruce Lake off of Highway #1. A cursory search was conducted at the time of this discovery by search and rescue (SARS) and the Saint John Police Force (SJPF).
The Saint John Police Patrol members, along with the assistance of the Forensic Identification unit and the Major Crime Unit called in the expertise of a forensic anthropologist to examine the bones that had been collected at the scene. It has been determined that these bones recovered are that of a human being.
On June 15, 2013, in consultation with the forensic anthropologist, a thorough follow-up search was conducted in this area with the assistance from the River Valley Ground search & Rescue and York Sunbury Search & Rescue.
Further items from this recent search have been seized and are being analyzed at this time.
