Bulky Items Pick Up

If you currently receive residential collection from the City, you can receive special pick up to dispose of household items or 'bulky items' twice a year.  You must preregister each item for this service by calling 658-4455 between 8:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m to register.  Staff from Municipal Operations will call you back with an assigned pick up date.  Be sure your items are curbside on that date by 7:30 a.m.

Bulky Items means large items of a household nature including but not limited to furniture, mattresses, bed springs, boxes, barrels, pieces of fencing, barbecues, carpets and the like that would normally accumulate at a residential dwelling unit.  Please note: Bulky items do not include household hazardous waste or white goods.

Household Hazardous Waste  means any waste having potential harm to health and safety or to the environment which may include but is not limited to industrial and treatment plant waste as set out in schedule “C” of the Solid Waste By Law which can be found here.
 

Please note: The City of Saint John no longer offers the White Goods Drop Off Program.

White Goods means any large household appliance including but not limited to refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, stoves, washers, dryers. There are various private companies in the City that offer this service for free.

Limits:

 

Single family residence

Up to 3 bulky items per pick up

Multi-units

Property owners with 2-4 units are responsible to coordinate tenant limits.

Up to 6 bulky items per pick up

Illegal Dumping

Unfortunately, garbage collectors have no way of knowing whose garbage is on your property.  Therefore, you are responsible for any garbage on your property.  If you can identify the person responsible for illegally dumping on your property, call us for assistance at 658-4455.
