Composting - How are we doing?

It is estimated that 40% of household waste is compostable.  The graph above shows how Saint John neighbourhoods are doing.  The grey bars represent our regular garbage.  The green represents our compost.  Numbers are based on metric tonnes collected from City of Saint John residential customers in 2009.  Click on the graph for a larger PDF view and see where your neighbourhood ranks.

Neighbourhoods disposing over 30% in compost include Forest Hills Parkhill, Sand Cove, Sherbrooke, Fundy Heights, Greendale, Millidgeville, Pokiok Tartan, and Champlain Heights.  Our most outstanding compost route is Quinton Heights, who put 39% of their household waste into the compost bin.  Congratulations, Quinton Heights.  Keep up the great work!
