The City of Saint John and the Fundy Region Solid Waste Commission are conducting a pilot project to determine how bag limits affect households, and if it is an effective way to reduce waste.  This pilot is taking place along the Douglas Avenue collection route from June through August 2011.

Approximately 680 household units will be asked to take part in this voluntary program to see if the participants can decrease their garbage to 2 bags or less per week (or 4 bags per 2-week collection period). This 10 week Program will assist in understanding household attitudes and behaviours towards reducing garbage disposal and increasing waste diversion.
