Composting
Did you know that the landfill fee for compost is $28 per metric tonne? Compare that to the $108 per tonne of garbage. When you consider that 40% of household waste is compostable, there’s also a dollars-and-cents logic to putting your apple core in the compost rather than in the garbage.
Composting reduces landfill waste, thereby extending the life of the landfill. Animals and birds will not bother your garbage if there is no food product in it and this results in the cleanliness of properties and streetscapes.
