Do you have enough smoke alarms and are they properly
installed?
The Saint John Fire Department is reminding citizens to
check their smoke alarms this Fire Prevention Week. You can keep your family
safe from fire with a few simple steps:
- Check your smoke alarms. You need at least one
on each floor of your home.
- Make a home fire escape plan. Do you know where
your family will meet after they escape a fire?
- Do you have fire extinguishers at home? You
should have one in the kitchen and one near any other possible source of
ignition, including your water heater, furnace or fireplace.
To learn more about protecting your family from fire, join
the Saint John Fire Department this Saturday, October 8 at Canadian Tire (both
Saint John locations – Fairville Boulevard and Westmorland Road). Fire fighters
will have displays of smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and other home fire
safety equipment. Learn more about how to make the most of these tools.
