Dispute Process
If a parking ticket is in question, the person ticketed is able to dispute the ticket by completing the
online complaint form. These forms are also available at the Saint John Parking Commission office or at the City of Saint John Payment Centre in the Shoppes of City Hall. For further convenience, a person is able to mail, fax or email a letter of complaint, referencing the ticket number and vehicle license plate along with an explanation of the nature of the ticket dispute.
The complaint must be received within 48 hours of the date of issue. The complaint form will be reviewed by the Supervisor whereby a decision will be made either to excuse the ticket or that the ticket is valid.
If the Supervisor deems that the ticket is valid and if the ticket holder still wishes to dispute the matter further, he/she may await the summons to attend Traffic Court. A trial date will be set and the ticket holder may present his/her argument for the Provincial Court Judge's ruling.
