The City of Saint John uses the Winter Management Plan for Street and
Sidewalks to determine street and sidewalk snow plowing service
objectives. Snow plow routes are established to maintain safe travel
routes on arterial streets, emergency routes and highway connections
(Priority 1) as well as major bus routes, business districts, and in
school and community zones (Priority 2). Citizens using collector streets and local or subdivision streets should exercise caution when traveling during a storm.
To allow for safe and efficient plowing of City streets, on-street
parking is not allowed in most of the city between December 1 and March
31 from midnight to 7 a.m. To see if your street is exempt from the
restriction, check the Winter Overnight Parking Restriction map.
Exempted streets are signed to tell citizens where parking is
allowed. Obey all posted signage in your area. Learn more about
alternate side parking rules outside of the South Central Peninsula
here.
The entire South Central Peninsula is subject to year-round alternate
side parking, which has been in place since 2003. Follow the posted
signs on these streets. Learn more about parking in the South Central
Peninsula, as well the Snow Ban system, here.
If in doubt about parking on a certain street, please call Municipal
Operations at 658-4455 or email municipaloperations@saintjohn.ca.
