Overnight Parking on Exempted Streets

Most streets exempted from the Winter Overnight Parking Restriction are subject to alternate side parking. Because the alternate side rules were in place prior to the rule restricting overnight parking throughout the city, the dates and times are slightly different. Streets with alternate side parking are signed and use the following rules under the Traffic By-Law:

16(2) No person shall, between November 15th and April 30th, inclusive, of each year, between the hours of 00:01 and 08:00, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday park a vehicle on the side of a street that is listed in Schedule “H” and has posted on it signs that prohibit parking during such days and times.

16(3) No person shall, between November 15th and April 30th, inclusive of each year, between the hours of 00:01 and 08:00, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday park a vehicle on the side of a street that is listed in Schedule “H” and has posted on it signs that prohibit parking during such days and times.

Some streets have overnight parking allowed only on one side or section of a street. Those streets are listed in Schedule B of the Traffic By-Law. No Parking signs are posted on those streets.

When in doubt, follow the posted signage, or call 658-4455 to speak to a representative from Municipal Operations.
