City works with Office of the Integrity Commissioner through investigation into the breach of online parking ticket payment system

01-Feb-2019

The City acknowledges the important role the Office of the Integrity Commissioner plays in providing oversight of the Provincial access and privacy laws, including the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Upon learning that confidential customer data from the online payment system used by the City to process parking tickets had been compromised, the City contacted the Office of the Integrity Commissioner to notify it of the breach and ensure full compliance with the Act.

The City thanks the Office of the Integrity Commissioner for the guidance and direction it has provided from the beginning and through the customer notification process, and will continue to work collaboratively with the Office throughout their investigation. Results from the investigation will be shared online.

Affected customers are encouraged to contact their financial institution. For further questions about the breach, customers may contact the City of Saint John at (506) 674-4289 Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. AST.
