City crews out today working on clearing catch basins to improve drainage

11-Mar-2011

City of Saint John Municipal Operations crews will be out in force today clearing snow and ice from the curb lines in the North and South ends of the City today. As well, crews will be working on freeing up catch basins on the East and West sides.

Crews will also be removing sand from the roads as they free the catch basins and a crew is also out filling potholes around the city.

Citizens can help by checking and clearing drainage paths and basins near their homes and/or businesses. Residents in low lying areas susceptible to flooding are advised to take precautions and raise or secure valuable items on upper levels or higher elevations.

Municipal Operations nightshift crews will be monitoring conditions and responding to situations as necessary overnight. For more information, please call Municipal Operations at 658-4455. To learn more about winter operations in the City of Saint John, please visit saintjohn.ca/winter.
