City crews responding to snowstorm

02-Feb-2011

City of Saint John Roadway Maintenance Service crews are out in force, clearing snow and ice from the City’s roads.

Citizens are reminded to be patient on the ride home as road conditions are not favourable. Please keep the conditions in mind and slow down when necessary.

The City’s Winter Operations Centre is open and will remain activated into the night to manage the response to the storm. City staff will be working within the Winter Management Plan to meet established service objectives according to Priority and based on the storm severity. Major arteries, highway connections and emergency routes will be cleared constantly by the assigned plowing equipment, with major bus routes, and streets connecting schools, community centres and business districts as the second priority.

The necessary equipment inspections and operations coordination is underway and will continue until the storm event has passed. Please assist your neighbours and the City by using your available off-street parking to ensure the most efficient snow plowing and removal operation possible.

Please note: The City’s community centres are closed this evening.
