Automated phone and e-mail emergency alerts are now available through your community’s public alerting and warning system. Residents of Grand Bay-Westfield, Hampton, Norton, Quispamsis, Rothesay, Saint John, St. Martin’s, Sussex and Sussex Corner should go to their municipality’s website and register to receive Emergency Alerts.
The process is simple – register your name and contact information, including your address, through the municipality’s website. This information is held in a secure database until an emergency occurs or is expected in one of the municipalities. When this takes place, an automated message is sent directly to the landline telephone, cell phone or e-mail address provided. Only those registered will be contacted by this service when an announcement is made.
Registration must be done by computer online. Help is available to those without computers through their local library.
The Emergency Alert system is part of the Sentinel software purchased in May thanks to a Joint Emergency Preparedness Program grant.
