Fire Prevention Week Activities Across Saint John

Fire Prevention Week: Sunday, October 4 – Saturday, October 10, 2015

The Saint John Fire Department is reminding citizens to: 

Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of your home, including the basement. Larger homes may need more alarms.

Make a home fire escape plan. Do you know where your family will meet after they escape a fire?

Do you have fire extinguishers at home? You should have one in the kitchen and one near any other possible source of ignition, including your water heater, furnace or fireplace.

Saturday, October 3 

Home Depot 

10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Children’s Workshop with fire truck and firefighters on site.


Sunday, October 4

Run For The Cure 

Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal, 333 Water Street

12 p.m. – 3 p.m.

BBQ with fire truck and firefighters on site. 


Tuesday, October 6

Saint John Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital

Fire Prevention Staff on site at the atriums

9 a.m. – 12 p.m. 

Fire prevention staff on site with fire prevention handouts and information.


Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 7

Home Depot 

Kent Building Supplies – East and West locations

Canadian Tire – East and West locations

1:30 pm. – 3:30 p.m. 

Fire prevention staff on site with fire prevention handouts and information.
