Help Keep City Streets Clear and Safe

28-Jan-2015

City crews continue to work hard to keep streets and sidewalks clear and safe and thank residents for their continued cooperation. Work is being done in priority sequence to follow established service objectives identified within the City’s Winter Management Plan.

Motorists are asked to adhere to the City’s Winter Parking Restrictions and obey all posted parking/no parking signs. Whenever possible, residents should take advantage of off-street parking. Vehicles parked in no parking zones may be ticketed and towed.

The entire South Central Peninsula is subject to year-round alternate side parking. Follow the posted signs on these streets.

Private plow contractors and residents are asked to not plow snow onto City roads, sidewalks and fire hydrants. Doing so causes accidents and makes it even more challenging and costly for crews to keep these areas clear and safe.

Putting the snow removed from driveways and walkways onto the right-of-ways is a violation of the City By-Law “A By-Law Relating to the Public Streets in The City of Saint John and to Prevent Certain Nuisances in the said City” with a penalty of between $200 and $500.
