Today marks the first day of a 12-week pilot approved by Saint John Common Council to deploy a pay-by-phone parking service in uptown Saint John. HotSpot Parking Inc. has integrated with the parking meters, pay-and-display spaces and Saint John Parking Commission lots in uptown Saint John where pay and display and parking meters are available. During the pilot, people wishing to use HotSpot Parking can download the free app for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry devices online at hotspotparking.ca or the app stores.
“HotSpot Parking offers a new level of convenience to people parking uptown Saint John,” said Saint John City Councillor Greg Norton. “It is all about enhancing the experience for those who are here on business or pleasure.”
With the Hotspot Parking technology, users have the ability to pay for parking with their smart phone, and top up their parking meter or pay and display pass from any location, at any time.
Pay-by-phone is not available at off-street lots with attendants or at the Peel Plaza Parking Garage.
Saint John Parking Commission By-law enforcement officers use a hand-held license plate validation technology to verify parking sessions. HotSpot Parking users must enter their license plate and meter number correctly in order to avoid being issued a ticket.
On March 31, Hotspot Parking Inc. will roll out its enterprise suite, Urban Engage, to uptown businesses in an effort to offer them the ability to interact with Hotspot users and build their customer base.
People and businesses wishing to use HotSpot Parking or Urban Engage are encouraged to visit www.hotspotparking.ca or contact 1-855-712-5888.
