Join us for the opening of Hannah and Jack's Sunshine Headquarters in Rockwood Park

09-Jun-2016

The Kiwanis Playpark for all Children in Rockwood Park has a fantastic new addition and all families are invited to enjoy the new structure.

There will be an official public opening of Hannah & Jack’s Sunshine Headquarters at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 17. We hope many families and friends will join us for the occasion.

The addition has been installed in memory of Hannah and Jack Porter, and their Father Jason Porter. The three family members passed away in a motor vehicle accident February 15, 2009. The memorial play park project has grown and evolved over time. The Rockwood Park location was initiated by Christy Bursey (Porter), Mother of Hannah and Jack, widow of Jason. Christy worked closely with staff from the City of Saint John to create a play area that reflects the spirit of her children and family.

Initial funds for this project were generously donated by many to the Porter Memorial Playground Fund. The City of Saint John and the Province of New Brunswick each matched the fund amount to fulfill the complement of funding required to see this project come to fruition.

In memory of her family, Christy (on behalf of her children) would like to invite everyone to enjoy the sunshine and this new play structure.
