Citizens are invited to attend the dedication ceremony and official unveiling of the Larche Memorial Park on Hillcrest Drive, west Saint John, at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19.
The Larche Memorial Park will be named in memory of Constable Douglas James Larche of Saint John. Constable Larche was one of three Codiac RCMP officers who lost his life in the line of duty on June 4, 2014.
During the park dedication ceremony, Mayor Mel Norton, members of Common Council, and City staff will be joined by park donors, members and family of the RCMP, members of the Saint John Police Force, Royal Canadian Legion and Saint John Fire Department to pay special tribute to Constable Larche and his fellow fallen officers, Constable Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, and Constable Dave Joseph Ross.
A reception will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69, 714 Wilson Street.
Residents are encouraged to arrive early to take advantage of on-street parking throughout the Quinton Heights area, and reminded not to block driveways or fire hydrants. Public parking will not be available adjacent to the park.
The ceremony will not be postponed or cancelled due to rain.
