The Return of the Digby Lighthouse Party scheduled for Loyalist Plaza on Friday, October 19 will move inside to Market Square Atrium. The party, featuring a free hot dog BBQ, scallops and entertainment will begin at noon. Grannan’s Hospitality Group will be adding special gourmet touches to the 230 pounds of scallops, a gift from the Town of Digby. Saint John Mayor Mel Norton will officially hand over Lighthouse to Digby Mayor Ben Cleveland at 12:20 pm.
“We want to make sure that all of our guests and volunteers are comfortable so we don’t want to depend on the weather,” says event organizer Councillor Shirley McAlary.
This is a last chance for anyone who wants to say a last good bye to the lighthouse or take a picture. The Lighthouse will begin its journey to Digby via truck on Friday afternoon.
The event is free but there will be a free-will offering in support of Bobby’s Hospice.
The event is sponsored by the Town of Digby, the City of Saint John, Saint John Waterfront Development, Market Square, Uptown Saint John, Enterprise Saint John, the Port of Saint John, The Grannan’s Hospitality Group and Sobeys Lansdowne.
