Results from water sample tests from Little River Reservoir have determined the beach is safe for swimming. The beach was closed on Monday after reports of an oily appearance to the water’s surface. Officials from the Department of Environment were notified and water samples were sent for testing.
Microbiology test for coliform and Ecoli were performed by an independent lab. Results indicate the water is within normal range and meets with Canadian guidelines for recreational water. Results from a hydrocarbon test also indicate no abnormal levels.
The beach will reopen today with regular lifeguarded hours in effect.
