Motorists reminded of access changes from Rothesay Avenue to Bayside Drive

20-Feb-2014
The City of Saint John and Saint John Police Force would like to remind motorists of the access changes from Rothesay Avenue to Bayside Drive. There is no vehicle access to Bayside Drive from Russell Street. Attempting to cross the multiple lanes of traffic at the intersection is a hazardous operation of a vehicle, and is a violation of the Motor Vehicle Act of New Brunswick, which carries a fine.

The City is working with the Provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure to install additional traffic signage and road markings that reinforce the proper route to take from Rothesay Avenue to Bayside Drive. Options include temporary signage to better communicate changes to traffic flow; and additional road markings at the Russell Street / Rothesay Avenue intersection to let motorists know that the centre westbound lane on Rothesay Avenue extends through the intersection to better align with what the overhead signs say in that direction.

Motorists are asked to pay particular attention to the road signage, and follow the rules of the road.

The attached map shows the proper routes for motorists to take to access Bayside Drive. The red line shows how one should access Bayside Drive from the eastbound direction on Rothesay Avenue and the green line shows the access point from the westbound direction on Rothesay Avenue.
