Parking Reminder: New Year’s Eve is changeover night in South Central Peninsula

30-Dec-2017

The City of Saint John and Saint John Parking Commission would like to remind residents that New Year’s Eve is a changeover night (meaning, vehicles must move to the alternate side of the streets) for parking in the South Central Peninsula.

We want all residents and visitors to ring in the New Year in a safe and responsible way. To ensure that no one is left on the wrong side of the street, and those who are drinking are not worried about moving their vehicles, designated parking lots will be available for use overnight, at no cost, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Designated lots available for New Year's Eve:

  1. Corner of Princess and Canterbury Street (entrance on
    Canterbury Street)
  2. Corner of Duke and Sydney Street
  3. Peters Street
  4. Carmarthen Street (Vineyard Church)
  5. Mecklenburg Street at Wentworth
  6. Corner of Charlotte and Queen Street at Key Industries (entrance on Queen Street)
  7. Water Street at Coast Guard (behind Cost Guard building)

What is changeover and how does it work?

In an effort to better manage street cleaning, snow removal and street maintenance in the South/Central Peninsula, year-round alternate-side parking has been put into effect.

From the 1st to the 15th day of each month, parking is allowed on the odd-numbered side of the street.

From the 16th to the last day of each month, parking is allowed on the even-numbered side of the street.

Changeover from one side of the street to the other takes place from
6:01 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on the 15th day and the last day of each month.
