Rodney Street Boil Water Advisory

08-May-2014

This morning at approximately 5:30 am an underground water main ruptured causing damage under Rodney Street on the City’s West side. The damage from  the break also caused a sinkhole in the road. Crews are working to repair the water main break. Fifteen homes in the area are without water and the street has been closed to traffic. The New Brunswick Department of Health was notified.

It is expected that water service will be restored this afternoon. As a precaution, Saint John Water has issued a localized boil water advisory notice to those homes. Residents in the affected area are being advised to boil their water for at least one minute. Residents will be advised when the advisory is lifted.

The infrastructure under Rodney Street is scheduled to be replaced this summer as part of the City’s capital improvement program.

Motorists are advised to observe all posted signage and barricades.
