Saint John Common Council Appoints New Common Clerk

Jon Taylor has been  appointed to the role of Common Clerk. He has been acting in the role since January 2013. He served as Assistant Common Clerk since 2008.

The Common Clerk supports the organization in achieving its service goals by enabling the governance and decision making process of the Mayor and Common Council and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, bylaws and procedures. A key focus of the role is to facilitate organizational effectiveness by maintaining the official records of the City.

The Common Clerk is also the custodian for the corporate seal and the official signing officer of the City.

“Mr Taylor brings a solid background in legislative affairs and strong skills in collaboration and customer service,” said Patrick Woods, City Manager. “These are key assets for his new role.”
