Saint John Police Force focuses on intersection and pedestrian safety in the month of May

The Saint John Police Force will be focusing enforcement efforts towards  intersection and pedestrian safety in the month of May. Expect increased police presence at intersections around the City.
Police will be focusing on these common violations:

  • Running a yellow light, a red light, or turning right on a red light without stopping is a violation of Section 119(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act. $172.50minimum fine.
  • Failing to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks is a violation of Section 170 (1). $172.50 minimum fine.
  • Failure of a pedestrian to yield to a vehicle is a violation of Section 171(1). $172.50 minimum fine.
