Statement regarding demolition of 1360 Manawagonish Road

06-Nov-2018

In response to public inquiries, the City of Saint John wishes to advise that on October 22, Saint John Common Council approved the demolition of the buildings known as the former Fairport Motel, located at 1360 Manawagonish Road, under the Unsightly Premises and Dangerous Buildings and Structures Bylaw.  City staff are proceeding with the process to demolish the site in accordance with the City’s purchasing policies. This process, which is already underway, requires a period to receive quotes before the work is awarded to the successful bidder and demolition permits are issued.

During this time, the property owner can also demolish the buildings up to the day the City’s scheduled demolition begins. The City is aware that the owner has demolished a portion of the site. Any demolition work that is not complete will be finished by the City.
