The Saint John City Market pedway entrance receives a much-needed upgrade

A New Year, a New Look!

The Saint John City Market pedway entrance receives a much-needed upgrade

The City is pleased to inform the public work will begin on the escalators at the foot of the Saint John City Market as early as Monday, January 11th. Over the next six months, renovations to the area will include a completely new look, with an upgraded escalator, elevator and stairwell installation.

Beginning Monday, January 11th, the area encompassing the current escalators and a portion of the upper landing will be cordoned off to begin work on the site. During this time, the stairwell and elevator will remain fully accessible to the public.  While the renovations are underway, sections of the area will continue to remain accessible for as long as possible; however, for safety reasons around the work site, there will be a need to close off the entire pedway entrance to complete the final equipment installations and structural upgrades.

The public will be advised of the full closure of the entire pedway entrance ahead of time, expected to take place from mid-March until the anticipated project completion at the end of June. Alternate entrances to the Saint John City Market will be identified and marked at that time.

The Saint John City Market will remain open, as per its regular business hours, for the duration of the construction period. For more information, visit www.sjcitymarket.ca.

We thank citizens and visitors for their patience during this time, and look forward to unveiling the newly renovated space this summer.
