Train engine whistles will no longer sound at two railway crossings on the City’s east side

23-Oct-2015

Effective overnight tonight, at 0001 Saturday, October 24, 2015, train engineers will no longer be required to sound the engine whistle at the railway crossings located on Rothesay Avenue and Thorne Avenue, as per CROR rule 14(L), except in case of emergency.  The gates, lights, and warning bells will continue to operate and signage will be installed. Citizens are advised to exercise extra caution when approaching the railway crossings at these locations, and obey the safety provisions in place.

The two railway crossing locations have been identified with red circles in the attached map.
