Update: Emergency Response on Bayside Drive

Emergency responders are at the scene of a butane leak on Bayside Drive.

Bayside Drive is closed to all through traffic between the intersection of the causeway and Red Head Road. The public is asked to drive with caution, plan their travel accordingly and avoid the surroundings areas if possible. There is a lot of emergency response traffic in the area.


Homes and businesses within the affected area, River Avenue up to civic #35, have been evacuated. The City in collaboration with the Canadian Red Cross has set up a warming centre for those who have been evacuated and live in the area.

Residents who live in the affected area (River Avenue, up to civic #35) are asked to report to the Warming Centre:
Saint John Boys and Girls Club
1 Paul Harris Street


There are no injuries to report.

Further information will be provided as it is available, including any notice of an expansion of the evacuation zone.
