11-May-2018

We're looking for the community's help. The Saint John EMO is organizing a 'volunteer blitz' this weekend to help flood affected homeowners move debris to their curb.

Please register at Harbour Station for orientation on Saturday, May 12 and/or Sunday, May 13. Registration times are 9am, 12pm and 3pm. We will accommodate those who aren’t able to register at these times.

From Harbour Station, you will be assigned to a team and shuttled to various Community Support Centres within the flood-impacted areas across the City. We will also register volunteers on site at these locations.

Community Support Centres will be set up at the following locations:
• Denis Moŕris Community Center, 330 Greenhead Road
• North Depot, 14 Macintosh Road
• KBM, 2452 Westfield Road

Please wear safety footwear (secure, closed toe shoes) and bring sunscreen. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and a safety orientation will be provided to all volunteers.

Free refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Important Notice:
Volunteers will in no way be demolishing structures. We are asking those who are able to help remove and move it to the curb. Other tasks may include support and coordination of resources.

This effort is best suitable for those ages 18 and up.

More volunteer opportunities will be available as and when needed.
