P.R.O. Kids accepted a cheque in the amount of $2500.00 today
from friends and family of the late Brian Lund. This donation will help P.R.O. Kids place
children in a recreational activity of their choice.
In 2008, friends and family of the late Brian Lund rallied
to inaugurate the Brian Lund Memorial Fund, a permanently endowed fund
entrusted to the Greater Saint John Community Foundation. In recognition of
Brian’s interest in youth and their recreational opportunities, earnings from
the permanently endowed fund are being directed to Positive Recreation
Opportunities for Kids (P.R.O. Kids).
In September, funds were raised from the annual Brian Lund
Memorial Casino Night. From the proceeds
of the event, Brian’s family and friends have generously decided to present a
gift of $2500 directly to P.R.O. Kids in addition to the $9000 that will go
directly to the Brian Lund Memorial Fund. This gift will help provide
opportunities in sports, recreation, music or the arts for youth who otherwise
may not be able to participate in such activities due to financial barriers.
P.R.O. Kids has placed 920 children to date in 2011.
