Municipal Operations crews are
working to meet the service objectives laid out in the City of Saint John’s
winter management plan.
Yesterday’s storm ended at
approximately 4 a.m. this morning. The primary objectives for street clearing
are:
Priority
1 – bare pavement in the travel lanes (both sides of the street) by noon today
(met)
Priority 2 – bare pavement in the
centre line (one track at the yellow line) by noon today (met)
Priority 3 – bare pavement, centre
line by 4 p.m. today
Priority 4 – accessible, snow pack
by 4 p.m. today
Bare pavement at the centre line
means that the main part of the street is clear of snow and ice.
The secondary service objectives for
street plowing under the plan are:
Priority 1 – bare pavement, curb to curb by Friday at 4 a.m.
Priority 2 – bare pavement, travel
lanes, by Friday at 4 a.m.
Priority 3 – bare pavement, travel
lanes, by Saturday at 4 a.m.
Priority 4 – bare pavement, centre
line, by Sunday at 4 a.m.
The City’s plowing operations will
continue over the coming days to clear the streets of snow as necessary. The
service objectives were established by Municipal Operations to set reasonable
goals for street plowing and clearing after winter storms. Citizens are
responsible for their own safety during a storm and must use their own judgment
when determining when and where to travel during a storm.
If you witness snow being dumped a
City right-of-way, either a street or a sidewalk, please call 658-4455 to
report the violation to a By-Law Enforcement Officer.
