The
City of Saint John reminds citizens to drive safely, or to avoid travelling if
possible, during today’s snow storm.
Municipal
Operations crews are clearing snow, as well as salting and sanding roads and
sidewalks for the duration of the storm. Crews will continue to clear and salt
until roads and sidewalks meet the service objectives as set out in the Winter
Management Plan. Motorists should find off-street parking where possible to
allow plow operators a chance to clear the streets.
Motorists
are reminded that the Winter Overnight Parking Restriction is in effect and
that vehicles parked on the street between midnight and 7 a.m. may be subject
to ticketing and towing. No Snow Ban has been called for the South-Central
Peninsula.
Streets
and sidewalks will be plowed according to priority. Major arteries, highway
connections and emergency routed will be cleared constantly, with major bus
routes and streets connecting business districts as the second priority.
Residents are reminded that subdivision streets may not be cleared of snow
until after the snow has stopped to allow major arteries to be maintained.
