Winterfest 2010



Greater Saint John is celebrating winter - Olympic-style - with our 2nd annual Winterfest.  This FREE* winter festival is packed with indoor and outdoor activities for winter enthusiasts of all ages.  

Activities throughout the weekend take place in venues across Greater Saint John so be sure to refer to the schedule for complete details and join us for Winterfest 2010! Brought to you by the City of Saint John, the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield, the Town of Quispamsis, and the Town of Rothesay.

 8:00 am – 10:30 am  Mayors’ Winter Warm-up Breakfast for PRO KIDS
What better way to begin your Winterfest weekend of skating, snow-shoeing, ice-fishing and more than with a warm, hearty breakfast!  Hosted by our regional mayors, the breakfast kicks off a fun-filled weekend of winter activities for the entire family in Saint John, Grand Bay-Westfield, Rothesay and Quispamsis.

The Winter Warm-up breakfast includes pancakes, bacon, juice, tea and coffee.  All proceeds go to PRO Kids, a regional program dedicated to providing all children and youth the opportunity to participate in recreational activities.   Tickets $8 per person, $5 for children.  Call 642-PLAY for advance tickets.

Bartendending teams from various Saint John bars & restaurants battle it out for the gold.  Watch them flex their bartending muscles in a series of fun activities like drink mixing and keg rolling.  The Great Keg Post Party will follow with entertainment by Sean Roach & friends.

SnowBath High School Challenge (see poster) and Mayor’s Welcome
KV & Saint John high schools compete, the one with the most bathers wins! Meet at 2pm at the Park. Wear layers. Take a 30-second snowbath in your bathing suit, hat, mitts, & boots. Water wings welcome! If you can’t take that much cold come cheer on your school’s team! If there’s no snow or it’s below -15C it’s “not happenin”. Call 849-5778 to register.

In the spirit of the Olympic Games weekend, members of the NB Torch relay team will come out to share their torch in some Olympic photo-ops!  Information & registration booth – SJ-KV Relay for Life.  Free hot chocolate and sweet treats.
