Message From Chief Steph Drolet SJPF
Friday, March 27, 2020

I hope this message finds you, your family and friends doing as well as can be expected during our current situation. I wanted to reach out and share a few things that your Saint John Police Force has been doing and has enacted to ensure our service is available to you when you need it. Officers have been provided with Personal Protective Equipment should it be necessary, to use while on calls. The operators who receive your calls at the Public Safety Communications Centre have put in place questions for you, should you need to call 648-3333 or 9-1-1.

These questions are to ensure yours and our officer’s safety as we continue to manage the COVID 19 situation. The front doors at SJPF Headquarters are locked and I apologize for that. In an effort to contain the spread of COVID 19, we felt this was a progressive step. Staff are still working in the building and if you have a question about any of the services the SJPF provides, please call 648-3330.

Officers and civilian staff that continue to work at 1 Peel Plaza have supplies on hand to keep work areas clean during and changing of shifts. We are also limiting travel throughout the building to minimize contact between staff. Technology is being utilized to its full potential for meetings and the exchange of information, which of course, is limiting contact of less than six feet.

Patrol vehicles are being cleaned after every change of shift, as is equipment. Every step that can be taken to adhere to the new guidelines in relation to COVID 19 are in place. Keep in mind, the provincial government has partnered with the Canadian Red Cross to support you and anyone affected by the requirement to self-isolate. This service is available to all residents and visitors. The Canadian Red Cross can assist people in accessing a wide range of supports and services.

I know this is an unsettling time for all of us but I am confident if we continue to self isolate and follow the social distancing procedure, we can get through this. If you or someone you know have issues or concerns, please call 1-800-863-6582.

Working together and finding new and innovative ways to do business continues to show that New Brunswick and the people that call it home, can handle any situation. Your Saint John Police Force’s dedicated officers and civilian staff, remain on duty, here to Serve and Protect With Respect!

Take care of each other and thank you for your time!

Steph Drolet
