Incident at Irving Oil Refinery

The Saint John Police Force received a call that was initially dispatched as a medical assistance call.  The call was upgraded to a possible explosion that occurred at the Irving Oil Refinery located on the Loch Lomond Road, Saint John.

Saint John Police Force uniform members / Saint John Fire Department arrived on the scene quickly and determined that a small explosion had occurred at approximately 11:50am and that this small explosion injured one male employee.

The male victim was transported by ambulance to the Saint John Regional Hospital where he is believed to be in good condition. He is currently being treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the explosion is unknown at this time, and no further details have been released. The incident is currently being investigated by WorkSafe New Brunswick members who are on scene.
