One Man In Custody Following Theft From West Side Business

Quick work by the Saint John Police Force Patrol Services Division, assisted by Police Service Dog Diesel, has one person in custody following an Attempted Robbery and Theft at a business on Lancaster Avenue on the evening of Wednesday, March-11-2020.

Just after 10:30pm, officers were called to the business, one man had been in the building and grabbed a large amount of cash before running out and dropped a weapon as he fled.

A perimeter was quickly set up in the area of the business and a man was tracked down by PSD Diesel hiding in a dumpster. Officers also recovered several pieces of evidence. 

The man in his thirties is facing several probable charges including Attempted Robbery, Theft, Possession of a Weapon and Violating a Court Order.

There were no injuries during this incident.

SJPF Major Crime and Forensic Units continue to investigate.
