Saint John Police Recover Thousands in Stolen Goods

Thu March 5, 2020

On Tuesday morning March-3-2020, Saint John Police were called for a suspicious person in Millidgeville, which led to the discovery of a sailboat being broken in to at the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club.

The investigating officers quickly determined that a man had left the area with a large amount of stolen property, and were able to track him down to an apartment in the North End where approximately $50,000 dollars in stolen merchandise was recovered.

The man was held for a court appearance and is facing charges of break and enter, possession and breach of a court order. SJPF is now investigating any links to other recent property crimes in the Millidgeville area.

“Our officers are to be congratulated for this excellent police work,” says SJPF Chief Stephan Drolet. “Thanks to their quick action, the SJPF will be able to reunite stolen property with its rightful owners,” adds Drolet.

Information received from the public was a significant factor which allowed the suspect to be apprehended and the stolen property recovered. Citizens are reminded to always call SJPF if they see something suspicious or out of place around their homes or businesses.
