Citizens invited to Warm Up to Winter Event

Rockwood Park and Lily Lake will play host to an afternoon and evening of wintery activities to warm up to this Saturday, February 22. Come out and enjoy snowshoeing, curling, horse-drawn wagon rides, fat biking, skating and sledge hockey. Outdoor crafts will feature birdseed ornaments and ice lantern painting. Warm up inside with hot chocolate, snacks, and story time. The fun continues into the evening with an astronomy club presentation and stargazing, a bonfire, and fireworks.

All activities are free and take place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lily Lake and the Rockwood Park Interpretation Centre, weather and conditions permitting.

Saturday’s event is part of the month-long Fundy Winterfest event series that takes place annually throughout the Greater Saint John region. Now in its ninth year, a partnership of Parks and Recreation staff from Saint John, Rothesay, Quispamsis and Grand Bay-Westfield plan and promote activities to encourage citizens to be active throughout the winter season.

The Warm Up to Winter Event is proudly sponsored by the City of Saint John and the Lily Lake Pavilion. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/fundywinterfest.
