City of Saint John bulky items pick-up service will resume Wednesday, May 6

Residents who are eligible for the service must call to schedule a collection date

The City of Saint John’s regular bulky items pick up program will resume on Wednesday, May 6. If you receive residential garbage collection from the City, you can receive special pick up to dispose of household items or 'bulky items' twice a year. You must preregister each item for this service by calling 658-4455 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. While collection will begin on May 6, residents can begin contacting the City on Monday, April 27 to pre-schedule a collection date. The City asks the public to be patient with staff as we manage through the reinstatement of this important service and any potential backlogs in service requests.

Bulky Items means large items of a household nature including but not limited to furniture, mattresses, bed springs, boxes, barrels, pieces of fencing, barbecues, carpets and the like that would normally accumulate at a residential dwelling unit. Please note that bulky items do not include household hazardous waste or white goods (refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washing machines, dryers).

The Bulky Items Pick-Up Service was temporarily suspended in March when the City began to operate under an essential services only model. This services is contracted by the City to Fero Waste & Recycling. Operator safety is a priority, and all operators will follow the health and safety requirements and recommendations of public health officials.
