Explore your favourite spots, grab an ice cream, dine in the open air, shop, take in an activity hub, or simply relax in a pop-up ‘chill zone’. Whatever you come for, you will enjoy the experience of uptown Saint John with extra space to properly physically distance.
Nearby on-street parking is accessible and free-of-charge on Saturdays.

See you on our uptown Open Streets!

Open Streets Saint John is part of a pilot program to support local economic recovery and social rejuvenation during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative has been successfully adopted in cities across Canada and the United States over the past few months to help meet the changing needs of communities and encourage safe physical distancing in open-air settings. With the temporary opening of pedestrian-friendly streets in Saint John, local businesses and restaurants have the opportunity to open their doors and expand onto the sidewalks and streets to offer residents and visitors unique, new experiences.

The Open Streets Saint John pilot program is expected to include additional weekend street openings this summer, facilitated on a rotating street basis. Further details for dates and locations of additional open streets will be provided through the City’s social media channels and website.

Notice to motorists: Germain Street from King Street to Princess Street and the top section of Grannan Lane will be closed to through traffic and on-street parking this Saturday, July 18, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
