Construction of Market Place Splash Pad Begins

Construction begins this week on the Market Place Splash Pad, to be located adjacent to the Carleton Community Centre in the City’s lower west side. While contractors aim to minimize the impacts of construction, park patrons and nearby residents can expect some dust, noise and truck traffic in the area.

Visitors to the park are asked to observe fencing and barriers and ensure children remain a safe distance from the construction site. The playgrounds, skate park, community garden and outdoor fitness equipment will remain accessible.

Construction of the splash pad is expected to be completed this year, with a grand opening slated for summer of 2019. The splash pad is funded by the City of Saint John and the Province of New Brunswick, with additional sponsorship from the Port of Saint John, DP World, the New Brunswick Children’s Fund, and American Iron and Metal.
