Landowner Applications Available for the Nuisance Deer Management Program

20-Sep-2019

The City of Saint John is currently collecting applications from landowners in Millidgeville who live within the delineated Nuisance Deer Management Program area and wish to have their properties assessed by the Department of Energy and Resource Development for nuisance deer harvesting permits. (See map below for delineated area.)

Only those properties that have applied for the Nuisance Deer Management Program, and receive tags for deer from the Department of Energy and Resource Development, are eligible for bow hunting.

Landowners can choose to hunt themselves or allow other hunters to use those tags. The City of Saint John has a list of licensed bow hunters who are interested in participating in the program.

The Bowhunters of New Brunswick will be offering an information session for hunters participating in the urban nuisance deer control programs in the Kennebecasis Valley and Millidgeville areas.  The purpose of the session is to provide information on the regulations of the special permit, inform hunters on the circumstances, ethics and safety of an urban hunt, and discuss the relationship between landowners and hunters.

The nuisance deer hunt will take place during the regular bow-hunting season, October 7 - November 23, 2019. An application form for landowners is available on the City of Saint John’s website, or by calling 658-2829.
