Mispec Beach has been closed for the winter

For the safety of citizens and visitors, the City advises the public that Mispec Beach is now closed until next spring.
Access to the beach is unsafe and, therefore, prohibited. Signage has been installed to notify visitors of the closure.
This past summer, after 2016 storm surges destroyed most of the infrastructure at the beach and cut off safe, public access, the City closed the area while engineers installed a removable stairwell designed to offer safe access to the beach during the summer months. In our attempt to protect the new stairwell from future winter storm surges, the stairs were designed so that the entire bottom half can be removed and placed in storage during the winter months.
The City thanks citizens for their cooperation, and will notify citizens when the beach re-opens in the spring.
