Saint John Transit to resume fare collection

08-Apr-2020

Saint John Transit passengers are advised that fares will be collected on buses with Plexiglass barriers beginning Tuesday, April 14, at 6 a.m. All 46 buses in Saint John Transit’s fleet are being retrofitted with Plexiglass barriers to enhance safety for our drivers. Fare collection was temporarily suspended until an alternate method could be implemented for the safety of drivers.

Not all buses will have barriers installed by Tuesday. On buses with barriers, passengers must enter and pay their fare via the front door. On buses where there are no barriers, fares will not be collected and passengers must enter and exit via the rear door.

Physical distancing remains in effect on all buses.

All of March monthly passes will remain valid through the month of April.

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL RELEASE:

Saint John Transit expects that all buses will be outfitted with the Plexiglass barriers by Thursday, April 16. Our earlier release indicated early May as the timeframe; however, we are now ahead of this schedule.
